Diagnosing 810 printer problems:

Problem/customer complaint Possible corrective action
1. Weak or no paper advance. 1st: Replace driver board.
2nd: Replace paper advance motor.
2. Margins drift.
3. Printhead jerks then stops.
Replace carriage motor.
4. Very slow printhead movement. 1st: Clean carriage bar with alcohol. (Never lubricate or use oil.)
2nd: Replace carriage motor.
5. Won't hold programmed form-length.

1st: Replace battery on processor board and reprogram.
2nd: Replace processor's VFC kit.
3rd. Replace control panel.

6. Ribbon not turning. 1st: Move slotted actuator post back and forth a few times to reseat switch.
2nd: Replace ribbon drive assembly.
3rd: Replace driver board.
7. Won't communicate or printing garbage. 1st: Check all interface cables and connections.
2nd: Check pencil switch set-up parameters.
3rd: Replace processor.
